Conde Nast Traveler Names The Best Hotels For Sicily Travelers
One has won Readers Choice Awards for eight years straight!
Heading to the Italian island of Sicily for a vacation getaway this year? Conde Nast Traveler magazine has unveiled its top hotels for Sicily tourists to reserve for the ultimate travel adventure. Here are three to consider.
Grand Hotel Timeo, A Belmond Hotel, Taormina is a pricy hotel, but winning Readers Choice awards every year since 2017, it appears to be definitely worth the price.
Julia Buckley writes, “while a magnificent Greek amphitheater and Amalfi-style Taormina is right on the hotel’s doorstep, Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo’s preened, tiered gardens and elegant poolside scene make for a relieving retreat.”
Making the Hot List for 2024 is La Roqqa.
Erin Florio describes the hotel as, “in the 55 rooms and suites, floor-to-ceiling windows let sunshine flood onto walls of sage green or Terra di Siena orange, which pop against crisp white bed linen. On the alfresco rooftop, Ferragamo-clad locals sip Negronis gilded by sunset rays in view of the 16th-century Forte Stella and harbor yachts below. It’s la dolce vita reimagined for the next generation.”
Meanwhile, the pricy Villa Igiea, a Rocco Forte Hotel made the Gold List for 2023 and won a Readers Choice Award in 2022.
Florio once again writes, “Its grand 2019 opening signaled Palermo’s wider renaissance, one of the same creative flavors that filled Athens' ancient bones a decade ago. One that is also manifest in the new authors’ contemporary rendition of classicism and commitment to locality, from the fritti and pasta ingredients to artworks nodding to the island’s striking natural beauty.”
