Vaporetto Accident Strikes Venice's Rialto Bridge With Italy Tourists Aboard
The impact was slight, no injuries
An out of control vaporetto boat loaded with tourist struck the world famous Rialto Bridge tourist attraction in Venice on Thursday evening local time with no injuries reported from the accident.
Essentially “public busses” in the canals of Venice, vaporettos ferry travelers and locals through the Grand Canal numerous times during the day.
A vaporetto just loaded tourists at the famed Rialto stop when it suddently and struck the famous landmark. The impact was listed as minimal and no tourists were injured in the incident.
According to the Italian News Agency ANSA, “due to the fault, the vessel, out of control, went sideways across the canal and then, very slowly, by inertia, touched the Rialto bank, with a loud screeching of the sheet metal.”
